About Me

I am a dedicated educator with a Master's degree in Educational Instructional Technology, earned in May 2021, and I am currently serving as a Master Teacher and Reach Teacher (MTRT) at Pease Academy, where I coach a teachers and teach third-grade English. While I have enjoyed this role, I am eager to return to the secondary school setting , where I feel my experience, skills, and passion for teaching older students can have the most profound impact.

For five years, I taught 8th-grade Science, where I helped my students make significant progress on the STAAR test and the NWEA Science Exam. This success, along with my ability to inspire and guide my students, led to my recognition as an MTRT. I am incredibly proud of my students' accomplishments, and I believe their progress is a testament to my commitment to fostering a positive and effective learning environment. I am deeply motivated by seeing my students excel, especially those from low-income or English Language Learner (ELL) backgrounds, as I personally understand the challenges they face. Having grown up in similar circumstances, I connect with my students not only as an educator but as someone who has walked in their shoes.

As a teacher who has navigated both the challenges and rewards of working with students from diverse and often underserved backgrounds, I am driven by a desire to give back and provide these students with the tools and support they need to succeed. My experience as an ELL and my understanding of low socioeconomic status (SES) challenges help me build strong relationships with my students, allowing me to create a learning environment where they feel valued, supported, and capable of achieving their academic goals.

While I have many strengths in building relationships with students and achieving measurable academic progress, I am also aware of areas where I am working to improve. One of my weaknesses has been balancing my enthusiasm for new teaching strategies and technology with ensuring I am fully meeting the needs of each individual student. Sometimes I find myself overly focused on implementing innovative tools or methods, and I’m constantly working to strike a balance between using technology effectively and ensuring that each student’s specific needs are met. Additionally, in my leadership role, I have found that while I value collaboration, I sometimes need to work on delegating tasks and trusting others with more responsibilities to foster further team growth.

I am passionate about the role of technology in education and the power it holds to bridge gaps and improve student learning. My work as an MTRT has strengthened my commitment to using educational technology to support both teachers and students, especially in schools with a diverse population. However, I am excited about the opportunity to return to high school, where I can apply my experience, build deeper connections with students, and help guide them through the critical academic and personal development that takes place during their high school years.

I am confident that my background in science education, my success in helping students achieve, and my personal understanding of the challenges faced by students from low-income and ELL backgrounds make me uniquely suited to make a meaningful impact in the secondary school setting. I am ready to bring my experience, energy, and passion for teaching back to the classroom, where I can continue to inspire, guide, and empower the next generation.
