To whom this letter may concern,
I am writing to express my sincere interest in returning to the secondary school classroom, where I believe my skills and passion for education can have the most significant impact. With a Master’s degree in Educational Instructional Technology, earned in May 2021, and extensive experience as a Master Teacher and Reach Teacher (MTRT) at Pease Academy, I am eager to leverage my background to guide and inspire high school students. I would love to bring my expertise in teaching, leadership, and educational technology to your school and contribute to the success of your students and faculty.
I have spent five years teaching 8th-grade Science, where I had the privilege of helping my students achieve significant progress on the STAAR test and NWEA Science Exam. This success, along with my ability to engage and motivate my students, led to my recognition as an MTRT. I am deeply committed to creating an environment where students from diverse and underserved backgrounds can thrive. Having grown up in similar circumstances as many of my students—low-income and English Language Learner (ELL) backgrounds—I can connect with them not just as an educator, but as someone who has faced the same challenges and understands their unique needs.
While I am currently coaching a teacher and teaching third-grade English, I am eager to return to the secondary school, setting where I believe I can apply my teaching experience, leadership skills, and passion for working with older students. High school is a critical period for student growth, both academically and personally, and I feel my experience and dedication to helping students succeed will allow me to make a lasting impact. I believe I can effectively foster a learning environment where high school students feel supported, engaged, and prepared to meet their academic and personal goals.
In addition to my successes, I am aware of areas for improvement and growth. For example, in my role as an MTRT, I have found that while I am excited about implementing innovative teaching strategies and technology, I sometimes need to focus more on balancing these tools with meeting the unique needs of individual students. I also recognize that, as a leader, I must work on delegating tasks more effectively to empower my colleagues and support team growth. These are areas I actively work on improving, and I am confident that my continued professional development will make me an even stronger asset to your school community.
I am passionate about using educational technology to bridge gaps and enhance learning, especially in schools with diverse populations. My experience with integrating technology into the classroom, as well as my commitment to fostering student success, would be an asset to your team. I am eager to contribute my skills and expertise in high school education, guiding students through this pivotal time in their academic journey.
Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience, vision, and dedication to student success align with your school’s goals. Please feel free to contact me at 432-250-3603 or via email at andrea.delacruz@midlandisd.net. I look forward to the possibility of working together to help students reach their full potential.
Sincerely,
Andrea De La Cruz
